(in alphabetical order)Account-Information Clerk
Keeps accounting records and compiles information requested by customer and others pertaining to customer accounts. Prepares lists and enters charges and payments to customers’ accounts. Keeps records of overpayments on customer accounts. Applies overpayment to charges on customers’ account or prepares voucher for refund. Investigates incorrect billings due to charges or credits on customers’ accounts and prepares written instructions for correction. Reviews accounts not billed and prepares bill from available information. Prepares and mails duplicate bills as requested. Interviews customers and others in person, by telephone or e-mail to answer inquiries and complaints pertaining to bills, customer deposits, and accounts.
Accounting Clerk ‑ Senior
Maintains records of one or more phases of an organization's financial transactions, i.e. accounts receivable and/or accounts payable. Verifies accuracy of relevant documents. Responsible for creating/maintaining computerized records and/or for providing data for inputting into general accounting system. Makes and checks entries and totals, balancing at regular intervals as required. Processes various business transactions according to established procedures. Requires detailed knowledge of firm's accounting procedures. Little supervision.
Accounting Clerk ‑ Junior
Performs accounting and bookkeeping duties similar to those of ACCOUNTING CLERK ‑ SENIOR, but of a more routine nature; works under direct supervision.
Accounts Payable Manager
Manages accounts payable staff (administrator/clerks). Managing all activities in the accounts payable function. Ensure all vendor invoices and expense vouchers are paid on schedule and maintain records and controls of transactions.
Accounting Supervisor
Directs and supervises the accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or payroll functions. Typically responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records and preparing accounting reports.
Accounts Payable Clerk/Billing Clerk ‑ Senior
Prepares complex and varied customer invoices for goods sold or services rendered. Requires knowledge of computerized billing system and firm's billing procedures. Computes amount due using supporting documentation. May prepare bills of lading. Requires initiative and judgment in reviewing and assessing data. Minimum supervision.
Accounts Payable Clerk/Billing Clerk ‑ Junior
Under direct supervision, prepares customer invoices and bills of lading. Computes amounts due from purchase orders and other supporting data. Duties are of a less responsible nature than those of ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/BILLING CLERK ‑ SENIOR.
Benefits/Pension Administrator
Coordinates the administration of employee benefits programs, including major medical, dental, life insurance, pension and other plans. As required, maintains benefit records and related documentation. Advises other employees on issues relating to coverage and eligibility. May be responsible for, or participate in, the preparation of benefit policy statements and communications regarding benefits, i.e. employee benefit booklets.
Bookkeeper/Financial Accountant ‑ Senior
Keeps systematic set of records of all business transactions of an establishment. Examines and records the transactions using proper system(s) and compiles reports at regular intervals to show receipts, expenditures, accounts receivable, and many other items pertinent to the operation of a business. May be responsible for soliciting, checking and coordinating data from/with others in the organization.
Bookkeeper/Financial Accountant ‑ Junior
Keeps a record of and works with one phase or one or more parts of a complete set of records pertaining to business transactions.
Buyer/Purchasing Agent ‑ Senior
Responsible for the purchase of material for a product line. Duties include interviewing suppliers' representatives, development of sources of supply, and expediting. Responsible for keeping price records on purchased parts and raw materials. Visits vendors to improve relations and assess their facilities; issues reports on price records, cost trends and lead times. May lead junior buyers and/or expediters.
Buyer/Purchasing Agent ‑ Junior
Under direction of the SENIOR BUYER, responsible for buying low‑volume production materials and/or operating supplies. Interviews vendors. May participate in large purchasing operations as directed.
CAD Operator/Computer‑Assisted Designer‑Draftsman
Prepares layouts, designs, and detailed drawings from sketches, notes, and specifications using a CAD Computer/Software system. Reviews initial drawing with engineering staff and makes changes using the CAD System. Verifies completeness and accuracy of final drawing. Reproduces computer image on a computer‑controlled plotter or other printing device, providing required details. Typically works under general supervision of engineering department.
Claims Adjudicator
Reviews, investigates and analyses claims. Determines course of action (payment, investigation or denial) of claims. Authorizes payment of claims within established guidelines. Works under minimal supervision. Reports to Claims Supervisor .
Claims Supervisor
Supervises and coordinates activities of claims unit. Provides guidance and makes recommendations in accordance with established claim policies and procedures. May also investigate, review or settle large or questionable claims involving problems with policy interpretation and/or validity.
CNC Programmer
Using appropriate methods data, prepares programs for computer‑ or numerical‑controlled (CNC) machines. May require analysis of operational/engineering data. Participates in proving or commissioning phase to test and ensure accuracy of methods and sequences. Implements modifications, adjustments and corrections to incorporate engineering changes. Makes recommendations regarding modifications to improve accuracy, reduce costs and so on. Usually prepares written instructions or procedures for machine operators and maintains appropriate records and references.
Compensation and Benefits Manager
Designs and implements compensation and benefit programs, policies and procedures for the organization. Oversees job evaluation, wage and salary administration and incentive programs. Directs staff of compensation and benefit specialists. Ensures proper administration of policies and procedures. Recommends changes to maintain the organization's overall compensation objectives.
Computer Engineers (NEW)
Analyze user’s requirements, and design and develop system architecture and specifications. Research, design, develop and integrate computer and telecommunications hardware such as microprocessor, integrated circuit boards and semiconductor lasers. Develop and conduct design verification simulations and prototype bench tests of components. Supervise, inspect and provide design support during the manufacturing, installation and implementation of computer and telecommunications hardware. May lead and co-ordinate teams of engineers, technologists, technicians and drafters in the design and development of computer and telecommunications hardware.
Computer Operator ‑ Senior
Operates, maintains and monitors computer system in multi‑terminal installation. Switches peripheral equipment, input/output devices into circuit. Works under general supervision. Detects errors or equipment failures, makes appropriate adjustments. May be responsible for maintaining operating records of performance and production. May give direction to junior operators.
Computer Operator ‑ Junior
Acts as assistant to SENIOR COMPUTER OPERATOR, to operate and monitor computer system and peripheral equipment. Works under close supervision and assignments are more routine in nature.
Computer Programmer/Analyst ‑ Senior
Highly experienced computer programmer. Writes, tests and debugs computer programs for variety of businesses, scientific or engineering applications. With input from others, formulates the problem or objective and then devises/implements programme solutions. Capable of handling complex assignments. Documents procedures for use with completed program. May direct or train more junior personnel, but does not necessarily have supervisory authority over them.
Computer Programmer/Analyst ‑ Junior
Assists SENIOR COMPUTER PROGRAMMER, performing functions similar to that job but of a less complex nature. Aids in the writing/implementation of programming solutions and programme documentation. May work alone on routine assignments; otherwise more closely supervised than SENIOR position.
Contract Administrator
A more senior position which typically supervises other, more junior buyers. Receives customer requests for quotations and is responsible for all elements of a contract administration function. This may require obtaining up‑to‑date drawings, specifications and parts lists. Monitors the status of orders and responsible for ensuring contractual and delivery requirements are met or advising customers of change in status. May involve some negotiation of terms/conditions/price or delivery stipulations to ensure maximum returns. Prepares necessary documentation. Must maintain positive relations with customers/suppliers. Work typically involves coordination with several other departments in organization.
Controller/Chief Accountant
Responsible for administering the organization's financial and accounting functions. Typical responsibilities include financial reporting; analyzing trends to report to general or senior management; planning and budget systems; general and cost accounting functions.
Cost Accountant
Required to develop and maintain system(s) to analyze costs using appropriate measures. Able to analyze and interpret cost figures. Distributes cost between the various divisions of production and management. Required to prepare cost accounting reports based on sound cost accounting principles.
Cost Clerk
Works under minimum supervision to compile cost information. Should be capable of assuming the responsibility of a complete costing of a specific product. Broad experience in general accounting and knowledge of basic cost accounting principles.

Data Entry Clerk
Operates computerized equipment to enter/verify data in appropriate format. May be responsible for inputting data from variety of complex source material and forms. Work requires close attention to detail. Works under general supervision and typically verifies own work.
Desktop Publishing Specialist
Works under minimum supervision to produce documents requiring the use of computerized layout and publishing skills. May follow established format. Familiar with one or more desktop publishing software packages and/or with high‑end word processing applications. Documents produced may be for internal or external communication purposes. May require knowledge and expertise to produce artwork suitable for use in commercial printing processes.
Designer/Draftsman ‑ Senior
From information furnished regarding the overall engineering requirements, carries out the most complicated design and development assignments, usually working in one field of design, i.e., mechanical, electrical, architectural, or tool design. Prepares complicated/detailed assembly drawings, diagrams and layouts. Normally works without direct supervision but advice and guidance on unusual problems may be provided. May assign and check the work of intermediate designers/draftsmen.
Designer/Draftsman ‑ Intermediate
Carries out moderately complex design and development assignments working from information furnished by others and following established references, guides and precedents. May develop designs of greater complexity under guidance of supervisor or senior design personnel. May delegate and check the work of juniors assigned to assist on specific projects.
Designer/Draftsman ‑ Junior
Assists in carrying out design assignments or parts thereof. Prepares to scale, detail drawings, drawing modifications, simple assemblies, etc., using detailed sketches, layouts, or similar existing drawings as guides. Prepares graphs, charts, tabulations, etc., from computations or other furnished data. May work without direct supervision on regular/familiar work assignments but generally work is checked.
Dispatcher Clerk
Schedules or coordinates scheduling of work for drivers/operator (and related personnel) and keeps work records. Enter names of drivers/operators on assignment sheet for each assignment. Notifies drivers/operators of assignment, established availability, and assigns replacement drivers/operators when needed. Keeps record of work that the drivers/operators has done for each assignment, recording all necessary information.
Distribution /Logistics Manager (NEW)
Direct and control distribution operations, ensure all order requirements are met (delivery, time and quantity). Ensure staff are effectively managed and allocated between warehouse and distribution duties. Analyze transportation operation cost and implement procedures to meet cost. Monitor stock level activities to ensure efficient stock.
Engineer ‑ Chief (Power House) First Class
Acts as chief operating engineer in any plant of unlimited registered horsepower and supervises second class shift engineers.
Engineer ‑ Production
Engaged in a range of engineering assignments in relation to the development and implementation of production/processing methods, controls, standards and so on. Responsible for resolving in‑process problems. Performs work with quality and cost standards in mind. May be involved in reviewing proposals regarding purchasing or modification of equipment and methods.
Engineering Manager
Directs the engineering operations within a division/unit of a company to ensure efficient use of equipment, material, systems and development of personnel. Analyzes and evaluates the need for capital investment to ensure efficiency and productivity improvements. May be responsible for preparing tooling quotes. Supervises and assists engineering staff.
Expeditor/Material Control/Production Coordinator
Responsible for scheduling the movement of raw materials and finished product(s) in and out of the production facility. Requires a broad knowledge of production processes and requirements.
Filing Clerk
Required to receive, read, classify, record, and file letters and other documents. Searches files and assembles papers as requested. Responsible for system and arrangement of files. May provide general/back‑up clerical support.
Financial Analyst
Responsible for conducting statistical analyses of moderate to complex economic information. Must have knowledge of appropriate research and statistical techniques. Analyzes financial trends and may suggest remedial measures where appropriate. Normally requires two to four years' experience.
Foreman/Team or Group Leader ‑ General
Responsible for general supervision of a manufacturing department having one or more foremen. Interprets instructions and company policy to foremen and employees when necessary, maintains production schedules, good quality in the product, satisfactory cost. Eliminates waste and spoilage, maintains equipment. Responsible for discipline, safety, and good housekeeping in the department.
Foreman/Team or Group Leader ‑ Machine Shop
Responsible for general supervision of the general machine shop department, maintenance of equipment, departmental orders, safety practices, planning work according to production schedules. Responsible for control of department expenses.

General Clerk ‑ Grade 2
Under general supervision performs semi‑routine clerical duties in accordance with established procedures of moderate complexity where some judgment in the selection and interpretation of data is required. Duties may be of a varied nature or confined to a specialized job. Typical assignments include any or all of the following: checking the coding and verifying the arithmetical correctness of accounts or pay lists; extracting, coding, collating and posting of information and data from a number of varied sources; preparing consolidated records and reports by selecting readily identifiable material from several sources.
General Clerk ‑ Grade 3
Under close supervision performs simple or routine clerical duties, generally of a repetitive nature, operating within well‑defined procedures and in accordance with specific instructions where little or no judgment, selection, or interpretation is required. Typical assignments include transposing information from one form to another; routine posting of numerical or other data; elementary arithmetic calculations; sorting papers. Duties may be of a varied nature or confined to a routine job.
General Manager/Branch Manager ‑ Regional Sales/Distribution Facilities
Pertaining especially to sales and warehousing/distribution facilities, where there is only light manufacturing, basic assembly of components into finished products or no manufacturing component at all. Responsible for the overall direction and control of all or most activities at such an establishment, i.e., operational, administrative and financial functions. Where establishment is branch or subsidiary of larger corporation, responsible to, and receives support from, corporate executives. Where establishment is branch or subsidiary of larger corporation, certain managers at establishment, i.e., in the sales function, may also report directly to corporate executives.
Graphic Artist
Designs materials, packaging, brochures and related projects. Typically uses computer‑aided graphics equipment, software, etc. Ensures correct lay‑out of artwork, typesetting and related design considerations. May be involved in concept development, including selecting styles, techniques and materials best suited to achieving objectives.
Health and Safety Coordinator/Safety Officer
Responsible for the co‑ordination of the Occupational Health and Safety Program, including training and other instruction in the safe handling and use of company product, materials and/or equipment. Generally responsible for the maintenance of safe and sanitary conditions in the establishment, and compliance with accepted safety standards and applicable laws. May also be responsible for the investigation and subsequent report on workplace accidents and actively participates in the activities of the health and safety committee.
Human Resources Assistant/Representative
Typically responsible for interviewing applicants for employment, processing application forms and verifying references. Compiles and maintains personnel records. May have involvement in the administration of employee benefit programmes as well as fielding employee inquiries/concerns. Position requires independent judgment and discretion. Typically reports and provides administrative support to Human Resources Manager.
Human Resources Generalist
Typically reporting to a Human Resources Manager, this is an intermediate position having broad responsibilities in the areas of recruiting, interviewing, compensation administration, training, etc.
Human Resources Supervisor
Depending on the size and/or the administrative structure of the organization, this position may or may not report to a more senior Human Resources Manager or Director. In certain organizations, this will be the only H.R. management position (although it may have subordinate/assistant positions reporting to it). Supervises and coordinates the administration of human resources.
Human Resources Manager
This is a senior management position responsible for developing and implementing human resource policies and programs covering all or some of the following areas: compensation, benefits, recruitment, training and development, health and safety, and labour relations. Directs and coordinates a team of human resources professionals with the assistance of a Human Resource Supervisor. Typically reports to a senior executive at the corporate level.
Industrial Engineer (Time Studier)
Analyses diversified lines of work/production processes and/or individual job components. Analyses methods, motions, equipment, and working conditions. Develops and establishes most efficient methods and standards in consideration of prevailing costs, health and safety standards and other technical/logistical factors. Requires a thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods and mechanical problems and an appreciation of engineering and inspection requirements. Exercises independent judgment and works under minimum supervision.
Inventory Control Coordinator
Compiles stock control records and information such as usage rates and type/quantity of items in storage in order to accurately determine stock supply requirements and to identify the need for replenishment on a timely basis.
Inventory Control Manager
Directs inventory planning and control activities. Determines stock replenishment based on existing supply levels, production schedules, customer orders and sales forecasts. Responsible for setting administrative controls. Manages inventory control support staff.
IS Manager
Implements, configures, administers and troubleshoots the information systems function. Certain IS activities typically carried out through subordinates, e.g., systems analysis, programming, technical support, etc. Coordinates the integration of IS systems with organizational objectives. Documents system(s) according to requirements. May provide support to users and/or guidance to those providing direct support to users. May be most senior IS position or, in larger organizations, may report to corporate IS executive.
IS Technical Support Specialist – SeniorIn terms of experience and expertise, a senior level support position responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving IS technical/infrastructure issues. Key technical resource for all installation and support issues. Typically responsible for providing guidance and leadership to other technical support staff engaged with day-to-day support issues. Must remain abreast of technological change and development in IS field. Responsible for developing technical standards, policies and procedures to ensure smooth integration of computer technology with, and in support of, other aspects of the organization’s operations. IS Technical Support Specialist – Junior
Compared to Senior position (above), this position is more heavily involved in the day-to-day troubleshooting and support issues. Works with users to analyze hardware/software problems and/or PC/network problems and implements corrective action. In most organizations, activities overseen by Technical Support Specialist – Senior (above) and uses that position for technical resource/guidance on difficult/system issues. May provide training to end users in use of new/changed equipment, operating systems and applications.
LAN (Network) Administrator
Responsibility for the administration of one or more Local Area Networks (LAN), including file maintenance, back‑up, documentation, training. Involved with software on the network and responsible for security. Required to keep current with network administration developments and issues.
Laboratory Manager
Supervises the operation of a laboratory and laboratory technical staff. Responsible for providing input into, and making recommendations regarding, product development, change and improvement based on technical expertise and laboratory results/research. Wholly or partially responsible for developing and monitoring quality control standards for products, raw materials, etc. as well as with respect to laboratory routines and procedures. May make recommendations for changes in raw materials, formulations, etc., depending on test results and developing scientific/technical knowledge. Must remain abreast of developments in relevant fields of study.
Laboratory Technician ‑ Grade 1
For quality control purposes or in laboratory research assignments, performs qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses, and/or carries out chemical or mechanical tests, operations, or measurements. Interprets results of analyses and/or tests; prepares relevant reports, graphs or charts; makes necessary computations. May recommend adjustments to process in order to maintain production specifications or standards. Usually works with a minimum of supervision following established methods and procedures. Receives technical direction from supervisor or senior laboratory personnel on assignments of a more complex nature. May provide technical direction to junior technicians.
Laboratory Technician ‑ Grade 2
Under normal supervision sets up and performs simple, routine chemical analyses or mechanical tests, operations, or measurements in accordance with established laboratory, quality control or other procedures. Records data; prepares simple reports, charts, or graphs; makes relevant routine arithmetic calculations. Under close supervision may perform more complex analyses, tests, measurements, or operations, following specific instructions. Obtains samples of material or products to be tested. Maintains, cleans, and stores laboratory apparatus.
Labour Relations Representative/Officer
Coordinates labour relations functions by preparing background information for negotiations and/or arbitration. Responsible for administering grievance procedures and collective agreements. May be involved in negotiations. Reports to Labour Relations Manager .
Labour Relations Manager
Formulates and administers labour relations policy. Responsible for negotiating collective agreements, representing management in arbitration, overseeing grievance procedures and ensuring overall adherence to contract provisions.
Maintenance Manager
While scope of activity will vary depending on the specific organization, generally responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of plant/building facilities, machinery, equipment and so on. Ensures regular and preventative maintenance functions are carried out through subordinate maintenance personnel. Sufficiently familiar with specifics of plant, machinery, equipment, processes, etc., to ensure effective troubleshooting and corrective/repair actions are taken. May include supervising of housekeeping and/or security functions. May be required to negotiate/administer contracts with outside maintenance contractors/personnel as needed.
Manufacturing Manager/Production Manager
Typically reporting to a Plant Manager, responsible for coordinating and supervising – through subordinate supervisors – various aspects of the manufacturing operations of a facility. Responsible for assembling and maintaining supervisory team in order to ensure effective management of manufacturing operations. Analyzes and implements plans in response to requirements of new products or product changes. Monitors inventory levels, maintenance issues and plant housekeeping. Typically generates reports/memos regarding product/production issues. May play a role in explaining company policies, maintaining effective labour and employee relations
Market Researcher
Assists in market research studies, analyses market research results, reports on competition and receptive markets and makes recommendations on type of products/services required. Works under minimal supervision.
Marketing/Sales Coordinator

Material Record Clerk
Records material ordered, received, appropriated, available and withdrawn. Issues material order requisitions to various stockrooms according to production requirements. Keeps material‑on‑hand records up to date and assists in keeping stock at predetermined levels by advising supervisor as to shortages, etc.
Materials Manager
Plans, organizes, directs and controls material activities within a division or unit of a company. National Sales Manager / National Accounts Manager
Responsible for the development, implementation and administration of company sales programs and strategies, typically on a national level (or on a more narrowly defined basis, depending on the organization’s scope of operation). May be responsible for advising on appropriate software applications or related payroll services. Typically supervises the activities of Payroll Clerk s engaged in these functions. Reports to Payroll Manager in larger organizations; in smaller organizations, may be most senior payroll position.
Payroll Manager
Responsible for developing payroll procedures and directing the preparation, calculation and disbursement of payroll cheques, deductions, overtime payments, incentive earnings and payroll taxes. In larger organizations, directs activities of Payroll Supervisor and clerical staff. Typically reports to the Human Resources Manager or Controller.
Plant Manager
Through subordinate staff, manages day‑to‑day operations of manufacturing plant or factory to meet company's overall production objectives. Develops policies and procedures relating to inventory and materials management, quality control, human resources/personnel, production scheduling and facility maintenance. May prepare financial budgets and reports on forecasted sales.
Product (or Brand) Manager
Plans, directs coordinates and controls the marketing of a major product, product line or brand. Production Clerk
Requires working knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations. Responsible for filling requisitions for highly specialized or diversified line(s) or apparatus. Should be familiar with all phases of production work. Reviews requisitions, gives estimates of shipment, prepares schedules, follows progress of work from start to finish, maintains necessary records, and prepares required reports on progress of work, etc.
Production Scheduler
Working under little supervision, responsible for planning and establishing production schedules. Responsible for the proper allocation of work so as to provide for the efficient utilization of equipment, material and manpower. Monitors material inventories, tracks production progress, and estimates completion dates so as to modify and adapt schedules as necessary to meet changing deadlines.
Purchasing Clerk
Working under general supervision, maintains files of materials purchased for follow‑up checks on delivery.
