HUMAN RESOURCE LEGAL ALLIANCE (HRLA)
As labour and employment law evolved over the past 100 years, businesses have seen their legal costs skyrocket. The Institute has closely monitored the economic challenges facing employers and has traditionally advocated a common sense and practical approach to workplace issues to keep legal expenses to a minimum.
In response to these new challenges, the Institute launched a new and unique service - Human Resource Legal Alliance (HRLA) - that provides management with unlimited access to the Institute's team of specialized labour and employment lawyers, as well as its senior human resource professionals, for a fixed monthly fee.
Historically at the forefront of advocating for management interests, the Institute established HRLA to provide employers with a cost-effective alternative to the traditional law firm "billable hours" culture. Unlike the usual "bill by the minute" practice, the Institute's HRLA team provides employers with unlimited, written and oral, real-time human resource and employment law advice, training and educational services for a flat monthly fee.

HRLA FLAT FEE PACKAGES
The Institute provides a selection of two packages (Essential and Executive) to companies, depending on their needs:
ESSENTIAL PACKAGE:
Description of services:
- Unlimited oral advice
- Unlimited written advice and related documentation regarding the following:
- Standard employment contracts
- Fixed-term employment contracts
- Independent contractor agreements
- Medical request letters
- Disciplinary letters
- Confirmation letters (i.e. layoff or downsizing, recall, promotion, resignation, retirement, etc.)
- Termination letters (i.e. for cause, reasonable notice or pay in lieu)
- Updates on matters relating to labour and employment law and human resources
- Access to monthly call-in seminars on a variety of human resources subjects
- Preferential rates for all legal work performed by the Institute's exclusive legal services providers: Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, Barristers & Solicitors.
EXECUTIVE PACKAGE:
Description of services:
- All of the features of the ESSENTIAL package PLUS:
- Unlimited written advice and related documentation regarding the following:
- Employee handbooks/manuals, polices and templates
- Drafting and negotiation of Executive Employment Agreements
- Comprehensive Confidentiality Agreements
- Protection of Intellectual Property Agreements
- Human Resources audit which will review existing contracts, employment applications, manuals, policies and practices to determine compliance with legal requirements.
