About The Institute

The Central Ontario Industrial Relations Institute ("The Institute") is an employers' association representing management in labour relations, employment law, human rights, workers compensation, employee compensation, pay equity and other related employment issues.

 

 

What The Institute provides:
 

Over-the-telephone consultation on all matters relating to labour relations, human rights, employment standards, employee dismissals and other human resources employment related matters.

   
Representation before all statutory boards and tribunals considering issues in labour relations and employment law.
 
Negotiation of collective agreements, including acting as spokesperson and compiling data in preparation for collective bargaining.
 
Preparing and presenting grievance arbitration cases, including authoritative advice on all procedural matters, assessing the merits of proceeding to arbitration, selection of arbitrator and all related matters.
 
 
 
 

Implementation of Pay Equity Plans, including the use of The Institute's Job Evaluation System and pertinent advice on job evaluation and compensation matters.


Workers' Compensation claims management and advocacy services at all levels, including WSIAT.
 
Sensitive and experienced handling of human rights issues, including defending against complaints, harassment investigations and the design of proactive and compliant HR policies and supervisory training programs.
 

Employee Opinion Surveys and related human resources oriented consulting services, including policy reviews, supervisory training and advice on strategic HR management issues and employee communications.
